Capoeira Song- Dalila

Posted in Capoeira Songs with tags , , , , , , , on August 30, 2008 by testcapo

We practiced it in class, now you get to practice it at home. Be careful with this song when singing in teh roda. You do not want to hit the octave too high on the chorus or else the response (especially from the guys) will sound like a bunch of guys are getting castrated. (Is that too harsh?)

E Dalila, ile-ile Dalila ô
E Dalila, ile-ile Dalila ô
Capoeira mandou me dizer
Tambem Capoeira mandou me chamar
Capoeira mandou me dizer
Tambem Capoeira mandou me chamar
Quero falar
Com Dalila, Dalila, Dalila, Dalila
Quero falar
Com Dalila, Dalila, Dalila, Dalila
Dalila, Dalila
E Dalila, ile-ile Dalila ô
Foi se-embora Dalila
E Dalila, ile-ile Dalila ô

(Disclaimer on the audio: I recorded this one pretty quick so it is really not the best rendition but at least you get the idea.)

The Photo Shoot!

Last Saturday we had our lovely models, Angela, Fanny and Amos, help us out with our photo shoot for promotional material for the Aceituno Arts Cooperative. Well, these pictures aren’t really that capoeira related but, OMG! they turned out really great so I thought I would show them to everyone.

Introducing Aceituno Arts Cooperative!

Finding a good space in a prime location in San Francisco can sometimes seem virtually impossible. I know this by first hand experience. Aceituno Arts Cooperative is a great opportunity for any instructor looking for a spot to teach weekely classes, rehearse or hold workshops. Aceituno Arts Cooperative is named after our dear friend and capoeria mestre, Mestre Carlos Aceituno. (See the Mestre Carlos Aceituno link to learn more about him.) Mestre Carlos was dedicated to teaching capoeira, dance and music. His was artistry was incredibly diverse and we are dedicated to continuing his legacy of promoting the arts.

Because we are new there are several ‘prime’ time slots open. We have not yet began actively marketing the space so these timeslots are soon to fill up. If you are interested in using our space please contact us at aceitunoartscooperative@gmail.com.

Capoeira me chama

Here is a popular song often sang in our rodas. I first heard this song sang by Mestre Di Mola and loved it. Here are the lyrics and audio for everyone that wants to be able to sing this song in the roda.

capoeira me chama tin tin

capoeira me chama mare

agora que o dinheiro acabou

capoeira me chama poise

tava na cama sentado quando capoeira mandou me chamar (x2)

tiriri faca de ponta (x2)

mataram o nego de sinha

o nego que gusta dinheiro

dinheiro que gusta ganhar

eeee quero ver

eeee quero jogar

Capoeirstas on the town

I love capoeira. Well, that should go without saying. However, what has kept me in capoeira for over a decade has been our tight nit community. Our group has always attracted a really rich variety of people with such diverse backgrounds. Many of these people, I am proud to say, have become part of my extended family. Below is just a small sampling of our groups family. In these pictures, a small handful of us went to Berkeley to celebrate Vicki’s boyfriends birthday.
